Empowering Students for Success: A Comprehensive Blackboard Workshop for ENG 015 Online Course

The E-Learning Unit of the faculty organized a Blackboard workshop for students of ENG 015 (Fully Online Course)  on  Monday, October 8, 2018, and Wednesday, October 10, 2018.   Delivered by Mr. Mohammad Taisir, ENG 015 Instructor, and assisted by FLT E-Learning Unit Supervisor, Mohsin Khan, the training session was a success drawing in a large number of students. Mr. Taisir exposed students to the course contents of the ENG 015 and pointed out the requirements of the course. He explained how students could explore the course materials and submit online assessments.   A wide range of topics were addressed in an effort to ensure students are prepared for the unique challenges of online learning. In his introduction to the event, Dean Abdullah Al-Melhi provided a warm welcome to the new faculty and spoke about the vital role King Khalid University’s learning management system holds. He encouraged all in attendance to familiarize themselves with Blackboard and Academia. Self-Study of the English Language by Modern Methods Training

A training course was recently held at the First Quran Based Intermediate and High School in Abha by the Supervisor of the Community Service Committee at the Faculty of Languages and Translation, Ms. Asma Alqahtani.The subject of the training session was "Self-Study of the English Language by Modern Methods." In that training, Ms. Asma Alqahtani introduced students to the online learning resources on the Faculty of Languages and Translation's website that will help further their language studies. She also introduced students to popular mobile phone applications that make studying English more engaging and fun. At the conclusion of the event, Asma trained students on other well-known language learning strategies that they can utilize in their pursuit of learning English as a foreign language. The E-Learning Unit of the Faculty of Languages and Translation (FLT), organized a one-day Final Grades & Grade Entry workshop for all new teaching staff. E-Learning Supervisor Mohsin Khan conducted the workshop. It aimed to coach and orient newly appointed staff of the FLT on the institutional policies and procedures surrounding final grades submission within the registration website. Many topics were covered, namely: Final Grades & Grade Entry When are final grades due? How and when can students view their grades? Where to go for help Dr. Munassir Alhamami, English Department Chair, and Mr. Jawed Ahmed, General Coordinator of the ELC, provided holistic support. E-Learning Awareness Campaign

Under the supervision of Dr. Abdullah Al Melhi, Dean, the E-Learning Unit organized an “E-Learning Awareness Campaign” for level 1 ELC students from Sunday, October 9, 2016, to Thursday, October 13, 2016.  Dr. Ali Alamir, Vice Dean, and Mr. Abdullah Al Rezgi, Director of the English Language Center, appreciated the efforts of the E-Learning Unit. They extended their full support and guidance for making the orientation week a great success. Mr. Mohsin Raza Khan, E-Learning Unit Supervisor, said that the aim of the awareness campaign was to make new students aware of the necessity and practical use of the King Khalid University E-Learning Portal (Blackboard) and the general pattern of the Exams. “The students were contacted in their respective classrooms on a one-on-one basis and introduced to the E-Learning system,” said Mr. Khan. Furthermore, Mr. Rizwan Ghani, ELC Coordinator, delved into the pattern of the exams by giving an in-depth presentation. Mr. Abdullah Al-Zubain, E-Learning Specialist, Dr. Khaled Mohanna, E-Learning Team Manager, and all Level 1 ELC teachers helped to make this awareness campaign a success.
