English Language Classes Offer New Hope
The Faculty of Languages and Translation launched a community service oriented English language course this Sunday, March 25, 2018, in cooperation with the Abha General Prison. The 6 hours per week month-long course is devoted to providing meaningful learning opportunities for inmates to prepare them for life outside of the correctional facility.
Vice Dean of the Faculty of Languages and Translation and Instructor of the course, Dr. Yahya Asiri, said he decided to set up the program after visiting the Abha General Prison. "Everyone deserves a second chance; we wanted inmates to have practical educational opportunities so that they can successfully integrate back into the workforce after their release and become law-abiding citizens," he said.
